Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

General

Q: When will your apps receive updates to support iOS 6?

A: As of 10/5/12, StoryPals, ArtikPix, ArtikPix - Full and PhonoPix - Full have been updated for iOS 6 support, and you can install them in the App Store via new purchases or the Updates tab.

StoryPals

Q: Why is StoryPals a relatively large file to install?

A: The high-quality text-to-speech combined with pre-recorded audio and two sets of high resolution artwork with animations (one set for iPad 1st and 2nd generations, and another set for the 3rd generation iPad) bring the app size to 372 MB. As a result of the app size, it may take a few minutes or more to install StoryPals on your iPad.

Q: What's the purpose of text-to-speech in StoryPals?

A: The text-to-speech provides support to children with reading difficulties, enabling the opportunity for any child to access the content in StoryPals. Text-to-speech with word highlighting allows children to track stories one word at a time. Additionally, the text-to-speech provides a convenience for creating accessible stories and quizzes because there isn't a necessity to do voice recordings.

Q: How was accessibility considered in creating StoryPals?

A: Accessibility is a very important part of StoryPals because we want children of various abilities to enjoy the app's content. StoryPals content is accessible to children who require supports for vision, learning, hearing, physical and motor skills via the following features:
- Text-to-Speech with word highlighting
- Story text size
- Story text justification
- VoiceOver support
- Readability levels
